Orlando Welcomes Royals at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds Orlando is providing a royal welcome for the arrival of its newest figures of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry, Prince William and Duchess Catherine. Britain’s royal family will be featured in the Orlando attraction in a special holiday-themed set for a limited time. Guests are encouraged to get up close and personal with royalty and snap their best selfies for a memorable holiday card.

Queen Elizabeth’s wax figure is fitted in an exact replica of the dress she wore for her official Diamond Jubilee portrait. Madame Tussauds studio artists were invited to the Palace to obtain exact measurements, photos and detailed notes of the dress. It is embellished with approximately 10,000 Swarovski crystals, and took artists over 60 hours to complete. Her jewelry is handmade and includes the George IV State Diadem, the Garter Star, the Garter Badge, the insignia of the Royal Order of George V and George VI, and Colette necklace and earrings.

Prince Harry’s figure is dressed in a Dege & Skinner suit from Savile Row — created by the actual tailor he uses for his uniforms. Prince Harry is adorned with medals: a set of three Court-Mounted full-size medals, three pairs of gilt and enamel Garter Stars, and one pair of Flying Wings.

Duchess Catherine’s figure is styled after her look at the 2011 BAFTA Awards in a one-of-a-kind pale lilac Alexander McQueen gown. Prince William is in a double-breasted six button two-piece dinner suit specially made for Madame Tussauds by Gieves & Hawkes.

Madame Tussauds enjoys a close relationship with the British Royal Family dating back to William IV, King of England when the attraction first opened in London in 1835. Their Highnesses have been closely involved with the royal figures. Madame Tussauds originally began as a traveling exhibit before establishing a permanent home in London and ultimately expanding to 19 attractions worldwide.

Zendaya is best known for her starring role as K.C. Cooper in Disney Channels’ “K.C. Undercover,” and for the platinum single hit off her 2013 self-titled debut album, “Replay.” She is currently working on her second studio album.

With a strong belief in body positivity and individual beauty, Zendaya’s impeccable style and confidence has won her wide appeal among teens and young adults. With the launch of her figures, she has joined an exclusive group of celebrities whose figures are a result of extensive requests from fans eager to see their favorite stars immortalized in wax.

“This is a major, major honor and it’s so cool to have it in the Bay where I’m from,” said Zendaya of the reveal. “This is the best trip ever. I get to be home and be with my people…and also my twins!”

The 19-year-old star met with skilled studio artists in June where she underwent the unique experience of a Madame Tussauds sitting, capturing her expressions, poses, taking more than 250 measurements and matching eye color and hair color. Keen to reflect her own hip and edgy style on both figures, Zendaya donated the pink Material Girl dress, which she wore to the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. For her second figure, Madame Tussauds worked with one of her favorite designers Rubin Singer to recreate the look she wore to the 2014 BMI Hip Hop R&B Awards.

Austin Mahone Pranks Fans at Madame Tussauds Orlando

Teen sensation and pop artist Austin Mahone played a practical joke on a few of his unwitting fans today at Madame Tussauds Orlando. Disguised as a Madame Tussauds employee, Mahone offered to take photos and videos for his fans as they posed next to his newly unveiled wax figure, before revealing himself to the surprised attraction guests.

A group of young fans, affectionately known as Mahomies, were randomly selected to be among the first to meet Mahone’s figure under the guise of a promotional photo shoot. Mahone previously unveiled his wax double at the Madame Tussauds location in New York City. The figure will be on display inside the Orlando attraction’s music room.

The singer-songwriter met with Madame Tussauds artists to have more than 300 body and head measurements taken to create the lifelike figure. The fashion-forward celebrity also donated his own clothing to put his signature stamp on the figure. No small detail was overlooked. The figure is even wearing a replica of the silver bracelet Mahone’s mother made him.

“I had a great time today pretending to be a Madame Tussauds employee!” said Mahone. “I loved seeing my fans’ faces as they were looking at the figure, and then back to me. Their reactions were priceless! I have some of the best fans in world!”

Signing with Chase Records/Cash Money/Republic Records, Mahone has come a long way with his pop music career. His first EP, The Secret debuted in the top five on Billboard’s top 200 chart. Pitbull (another Madame Tussauds Orlando figure) and Flo Rida have been featured artists on Mahone’s songs. Mahone has also opened for Taylor Swift’s RED tour. His most recent single, Dirty Work, debuted on July 2, 2015 and has garnered critical acclaim and one million video views in just one day.  Dirty Work is the lead single from his highly anticipated debut full length album set for later this year.

Mahone has been nominated for more than 20 different awards over the last two years. The pop artist has won numerous awards from MTV, EMA’s Best Push Artist and Artist on the Rise, and The Teen Choice Award for Breakout Artist.

Here Comes The Sun: Beatlemania Hits Madame Tussauds Orlando

Good Day Sunshine! John, Paul, Ringo and George continue the British Invasion at Madame Tussauds Orlando this summer as their wax figures descend upon Florida and take their place, for a limited time only, inside the famed wax attraction on International Drive.

The figures of the Fab Four are set in a pose that pays tribute to the 1969 Abbey Road album cover, which captured all four members walking across a zebra crossing (or crosswalk) outside of Abbey Road Studios. The image is arguably one of the most recognizable in music history. It is also the second-to-last album released by the band before their 1970 break-up.

To recreate these new figures, Madame Tussauds artists utilized measurements taken from previous sittings with the band, as well as image research from the Abbey Road album photo shoot to style each figure. The Beatles have a long history with Madame Tussauds. They were the first rock band to appear in the grand hall at Madame Tussauds London. All four members met with studio artists in 1964 to take measurements for the creation of their original wax figures.

Madame Tussauds artists used a number of image references from the Abbey Road album cover photo shoot, which explain some differences between the original photo and the figures, including the group’s line-up and Paul’s flip-flops.

Starting July 30, Beatles fans can Come Together, say Hello Goodbye and take the selfie of their dreams as they take part of one of the most famous Beatles images of all time! The figures will be on display Eight Days A Week at Madame Tussauds Orlando for a limited time only, so get your Ticket to Ride at MadameTussauds.com/Orlando today!

International superstar Pitbull met his match in Orlando, as he unveiled his new wax figure for Madame Tussauds Orlando on Friday, May 29 at the attraction’s new location at I-Drive 360, the entertainment and dining destination on International Drive.

The entertainer met with Madame Tussauds artists in Las Vegas in May 2014, where more than 300 precise measurements of his face, head and body were taken to create the true-to-life figure. Pitbull was very involved throughout the process and personally selected his figure’s pose and facial expression. He also donated the figure’s clothing – and sunglasses – to reflect his signature sophisticated style. The figure, dressed in a black tuxedo, is styled in a power pose with Pitbull’s piercing, intense gaze.

“I’m ready to see my figure! Looking back, it was a great experience to sit with the Madame Tussauds artists who worked hard to capture every detail,” said Pitbull. “Having been born and raised in Florida, it truly is an honor to have this figure in Orlando.”

The influential entertainer also received the honor of performing at the opening ceremony of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

In addition to his professional career and entrepreneurial pursuits, Pitbull is a philanthropist and very active in his own community, having founded The Sports Leadership and Management Academy (SLAM) in 2013, a public charter school in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
