Get ready to rock around the clock with James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and thousands of fans and fenders as Old Town celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Saturday Nite Classic Car Cruise. The 25th Anniversary will feature an all-day street party June 6 starting at 9 am. America’s longest running classic car cruise, Old Town’s milestone will be even more momentous as one lucky individual will be crowned the 500,000th driver to participate in the cruise. In addition, more than ten thousand dollars in prizes will be raffled off to the public throughout the day.
“We are extremely excited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Saturday Nite Classic Car Cruise. The owners of these beautiful classic cars have dedicated their time and efforts into making this historic event possible each and every week and we couldn’t do it without them. With an anticipated attendance of more 600 classic cars, many valued at $100,000 each, we will easily see more 30 million dollars on display here at Old Town,” said Chris Spicer, General Manager, Old Town USA.
Neither hail nor hurricanes have ever once put the brakes on Old Town’s Saturday Nite Classic Car Cruise. Even Hurricane Charlie didn’t stop the one cruiser that showed up and had to drive backwards down the red brick streets in order to navigate through the strong winds and rain. Since its inception in 1990, there have been more than 1300 Saturday Nite Cruises logging an incredible 250,000 miles…and smiles!
The Greg Warren Band (Toby Keith’s house band) is one of four musical acts of varying genres that will be performing on the Old Town stage throughout the day. Other entertainment includes 50’s-style dance shows, stilt walkers, face painters, cheerleaders, skaters, celebrity look-a-likes, balloon makers, swing dancers, and strolling DooWop group serenades. The cars are expected to start rolling in at 9 am and will be on display throughout the day. Old Town’s 25th Anniversary Car Cruise will commence at 8:30 pm sharp with the 500,000th car and cruiser to be honored immediately following the cruise.
