Moab, Utah is THE Place to Be This September

The local inhabitants of Moab, Utah can’t wait until Labor Day, the start of their favorite season. The summer heat has mellowed, the hordes of tourists have moved on and festival season begins. It’s also prime time to do that last raft trip of the season, lace up the boots for an all-day national park hike or top off the fat tires on that mountain bike.

“Here in one of the world’s most spectacular natural playgrounds, September can fool visitors into thinking we have endless summer,” explains Jamie Pearce, longtime resident and manager of the one-stop shop for outdoor activity, the Moab Adventure Center (http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/). “The climate is still great with daytime temperatures averaging in mid-80’s F. It’s also again possible to snag a table at a favorite restaurant without a long wait!”

Pearce’s favorite fall event is the Annual Moab Music Festival (its 23rd year) scheduled for Sept. 3-14, 2015.  “Music in Concert with the Landscape” features concerts that are staged inside a natural grotto, in private homes, at ranches, and various red rock venues around Moab. Performances celebrate old and new chamber music, jazz with a Latin flavor, and traditional music from around the globe.

Moab Music Festival is the first in a fall lineup that includes a challenging bike race, a downtown art walk, GLBTQ Pride Festival and the ‘Mother of All Boogies’ where participants worldwide converge on Moab for four full days of skydiving. These special events compliment a smorgasbord of outdoor adventures in and around Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. See: http://www.moabadventurecenter.com/areainfo/calendar.php

On Sept. 26 visitors will enjoy a National Park Fee Free Day. Utah’s parks are joining national parks across the country in waiving entrance fees for several days in 2015 as a way to encourage people to get outdoors and spend time with their friends and family in the national parks. The leading purveyor of outdoor recreation in the region, Moab Adventure Center recently accepted its fifth consecutive TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence award for its active Day Tours which automatically inducts them into their hallowed “Hall of Fame,” an honor Pearce and her crew take very seriously. Fall travelers can expect VIP treatment when engaging in these popular September activities:
