The fall season is upon us once again, and with that comes the ever-present feeling of foreboding and fear that is Halloween. Florida residents are lucky in this regard, since they can choose to exorcise the demons within at a number of hauntingly fun events all over the state. The big ones – Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, and Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens – transform once friendly and tranquil locales into bastions of fright (and not so fright.) For those of you who really want to experience a terrifyingly good time, however, local haunts are definitely the way to go.

For fear fans in South Florida, perhaps the best place to get your scare on is Fright Nights at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Opening on October 10, more than 100 scareactors are hard at work turning the Agriplex into three truly maniacal houses of horrors. Soon, the haunted midway will take over the area where children, teens and adults scream to their heart’s content, all while being harassed by ravenous hordes of miscreants hellbent on scaring them out of their wits!

Fright Nights consists of three all new haunted houses, two scare zones, live music and entertainment, thrill rides, food, games, prizes, and more. New this year is a behind the scenes tour, where on Thursday, Oct. 9 you will be guided through the houses by some of your favorite recurring characters and given the chance to see how the houses come together in a lights on, slightly less scary environment. Another night not to miss is Oct. 26, when the scariest place in all of Palm Beach County (not counting government offices) will be hosting it’s second annual Monster Bash; a costume party and contest.

Tickets are on sale now at myfrightnights.com for all of the events, including the behind the scenes tour, Monster Bash, and more!

Faborplumbs Funtastic Finds would also like to offer some of his loyal readers a chance to attend the event in person. Simply retweet the following phrase, and you will be eligible for a free preview ticket as well as a buy one/get one free coupon, while supplies last!

Remember that Halloween is a time for fun and frivolity. It is a time to come out of your shell, and to acknowledge the mischievous spirit that resides within all of us. Be sure to keep following this column for news on other spooky events and more. If you know of another local event that needs additional undead light shone upon it, please tell me about it!
